Because of the second phase of reductions and the fact that the water
treatment plant is not scheduled to be operational until July 2015, our
communities needed a way to address water needs prior to the completion
of the water treatment plant.
The intermediate needs were addressed
through two projects:
- Interconnection with Robersonville to
purchase water on a short-term basis
- Construction of an additional well (using
credits from a former Penco Company well in Hamilton)
The construction of an
interconnection with the Town of Robersonville was completed in January
2013. The Town of Williamston started buying water August 1, 2013 from
the MCRWASA to fulfill its daily needs.
The construction of a new water supply well, the Penco well began in
December 2012. The Penco well (now known as MCRWASA well #1) was completed in 2015.
